The Newspaper reporter from Baltimore who is on the side of Joseph Scott and his attorney Bryan Jackson. He does not like the people of the town and they do not like him.

PROSECUTING ATTORNEY WILLIAM JOSEPH GREEN

"We must not abandon faith! Faith is the most important thing!"

Green explains to the entire courtroom that they cannot abandon faith because it is the only way.

"I protest! This is not only irrelevant, immaterial-it is illegal! I demand to know the purpose of Mr. Jackson's examination! What is he trying to do?"

Green does not think that the information Jackson is presenting has any relevance to the case.

"I'll tell you what he's trying to do! He wants to destroy everybody's belief in the Bible, and in God!"

DEFENDING ATTORNEY BRYAN JACKSON

"In other words, the court rules out any expert testimony on Charles Darwin's Origin of Species or Descent of Man?"

The court is ruling out all Jackson's testimonies of witnesses. They will allow him to use the Bible however.

"A thinking man! And he is threatened with fine and imprisonment because he chooses to speak what he thinks!"

Jackson insists that the right to think is only trial which is contrary to the thoughts of the judge.

"All motion is relative. Perhaps it is you who have moved away - by standing still."

JOSEPH SCOTT - TEACHER WHO TAUGHT EVOLUTION IN A PUBLIC SCHOOL

"I had the book in my hand, Hunter's Civic Biology. I opened it up, and read my sophomore science class Chapter 17, Darwin's Origin of Species. All it says is that man wasn't just stuck here like a geranium in a flower pot; that living comes from a long miracle, it didn't just happen in seven days."

Scott does not see what he did wrong.

"People look at me as if I was a murderer. Worse than a murderer!"
